* Dance Party USA *
Today I went to the temple... I swear it was immense. It's brilliant how I can show up no questions asked and they just let me in. I love it. I love the temple. I love life. They let me sit in the chapel for an hour and a half after doing baptisms. It was brilliant just to sit there and think about the past year and all the events and possibly all the events before that. I got thinking about my Gran and the whole baptisms for the dead ordanance and how spirits have a choice between accepting the ordanance or not. To me it's blindly obvious to accept, but I don't know the circumstances above so it might not be an easy choice. I thought about how stubborn my Gran Miller was and I got this feeling that she might not have accepted her ordances. It made me incredibly sad. I also thought about uncle John and that situation and that made me so so sad too.
I finally left the temple and waited on Trax. At the station a lady walked towards me... she was glowing... and she and I had a brief chat. We both knew each other had been in the temple... and we chatted about missions a little. Then I had to hoof it up to the institute building for a random activity. Where I remet Lisa and she introduced me to a girl called Mary whose sister is in Oxford studying.
I also met a guy called Drew who had creepy eyebrows, but it turned out he was dressed up for a hallowe'en party and that's why he looked so creepy. There was a new guy called Jake there (hot boy from Illinois) and another guy who had been out for the summer working to pay for his mission... his name was Brian. He was nice. They all were. Is it possible to meet a mean person at institute extra-curricular activities.
Drew and his friend Mike brought me to a party at a random house. It was so much fun hanging out with them. The party was a bit random and weird... and I found out it was organised by the LDS frats and sororities. Hmmm. I think I blurted out at one point that it was all nonsense. Then realised that I shouldn't say it too loud or I might get a lynching or a spanking - as i see on all the American movies about Frats.
We didn't last long at the party, during which time I ventured in to the basement where there was actual dancing. An actual dance party. Just like Charla had told me. Dancing, in a house, to music. It was incredible... and a sure sight to watch.
We boosted from the party and headed to Mike's house where the three of us just chatted for a few hours before I came home. It was nice to talk to people, about the gospel and about life. It was brilliant.
(I also met the nicest guy called Ryan who was like a large puppy dog and coined phrases like 'yeah i'm small for my age' - he was about 6 foot 5 inches or something, and a guy dressed as fries called Jarrod.)
One thing that amazed me was that Mike had a conker tree outside his house and yet had no idea what a conker was or how to play conkers. If they were made from plastic and made in China then the Americans would know all about them.
Everyone at institute seemed lost, or missing... looking for friends I suppose. It was interesting to see. There were committee members there that were mandatory and then there were loads of people without friends looking for each other I suppose. It was unusual.
